Back in the olden days, cowboys would lasso their cattle, tie them up, throw them on the ground, and apply a hot branding iron to their backsides. The branding iron would be a special shape that was unique to the ranch it belonged to. It permanently marked the animal as the property of that ranch. The custom has changed somewhat, but the function is the same: Making sure everybody knows the identity of that little dogie.

Company branding involves the same thought process: Your company’s brand identifies your stuff as yours. Fortunately, it doesn’t hurt as much!

There are many elements that are considered company branding; some stand alone, but the more subtle ones are part of the whole. Your logo, for instance, is a perfect example of your company’s main identity. It can stand alone, but is much more identifiable when it’s displayed with your tag line, your company colors, your company name.

The best way for your company’s brand to become well known is through repetition. Make sure that your tag line, logo, and company name are represented every which way you can — promotional materials, promotional products, advertising, business cards, email marketing.

Frequent communications to your prospective customers brings them “top of mind awareness.” As often as they see your company’s identity, they will remember you, and though the need for your products or services may not be immediate, it helps to solidify your name a little deeper in the recesses of their brains, so when the need arises, you’ll be at the top of their minds.

So lasso in some new business into your corral by creating a solid company branding program for your company.
